PORTO CERVO, (April, 2011) – The hotels managed by Starwood Hotels & Resorts in Costa Smeralda present the third edition of the Porto Cervo Wine Festival, being held May 6 through May 8 in one of the most stunning locations in Sardinia. Festival activities will take place at the five-star Sheraton Cervo Hotel, located in the heart of Porto Cervo, and at five – star Luxury Collection Hotel Pitrizza
Ushering in the beginning of the 2011 Costa Smeralda season, the Porto Cervo Wine Festival will host the best Italian and international wine producers where top wineries will be selected by leading national and international wine critics. The festival showcases the natural beauty of this unique destination, from the emerald sea and pristine beaches, to the international glamour that distinguishes Costa Smeralda. The jet set elite will be in attendance as well wine lovers, mingling with the most well-known experts of the field and wine label representatives.
Festival workshops lead by influential Italian journalists and wine experts will take place at the Cervo Hotel Tennis Club from 10:30 am to 1 pm, followed by wine tasting in the Conference Center in the heart of Porto Cervo, from 3 pm to 7 pm. Guest speakers will discuss pertinent issues with leading industry figures with a focus on the development of the region through local wine and food production.
In addition, the exclusive Hotel Pitrizza will host a Charity Wine Auction that will bring together the best winemakers and wines from around Sardinia and the mainland with wine enthusiasts to raise money for AIRC (Italian Association for Cancer Research).
Many other collateral events will take place in the heart of Porto Cervo village involving the famous wine expert GianlucaGariglio from the Italian Slow Wine Guide and book presentations with other important Italian writers.
